J.J. Cartledge
President
Beginning his career at P & O Containers Service in 1994, J.J. held several positions in Liner Operations including Customer Service, Equipment Control, Terminal Operations, and Intermodal Transportation before accepting a position with Maersk Sealand in marine operations in 2000. Over the past 20 years, J.J. has held various roles including Director of Process Excellence at Pier 400, Transformation Leader, and Regional IT Manager for North America and Mexico.
Education/Training: Bachelors of Science in Business Administration from The Citadel (1994)., APMT Magnum Graduate (2012), Certified Six Sigma Master Black Belt, Cornerstone Six Sigma and The Pyzdek Group (2008).
Experience: Liner Operations for 6 years, Marine Terminal Operations Management and Leadership for 8 years, Process Excellence and Continuous Improvement Program Management for 11 years.
Melissa Brown
Consultant
Melissa began her career on the waterfront in 2006 at APM Terminals in the Port of Jacksonville. Prior to that, she was a ninth-grade English teacher. She held roles in administration and operations management at APM and participated in / facilitated Process Excellence initiatives.
Education/Training: Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Jacksonville University (2006), Six Sigma Black Belt from Villanova University (2013).
Experience: Terminal Administration for 2 years, Terminal Operations Management for 7 years, Process Excellence and Continuous Improvement team member for 3 years.
Matthew Shaffer
Sr. Consultant
Beginning his career at A.P Moller-Maersk Group in 2010 with Damco Distribution services, Matt held several positions from warehouse operations, customer service, safety, and finance, to dispatch, and Transportation Manager. In 2014 Matt accepted a position with APM Terminals, and over the past seven years, Matt has held various roles from vessel operations to Regional Terminal Strategy.
Education/Training: Bachelors of Science in Business Administration from The Citadel (2010), Damco Distribution Leadership Development Graduate (2013), Certificate in Data Analytics and Visualization from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte (2020). Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, Greenville Tech (2021).
Experience: Warehouse and Transportation Management for 4 years, Marine Terminal Operations Management and Leadership for 7 years.
